NRB World Summit 2026 to Be Held in Dhaka Under the Slogan “Think Bangladesh”

Initiative to channel the talent, skills and investment of the diaspora into national development Dhaka: The NRB World Summit 2026 will take place in Dhaka on 28 and 29 December, aiming to make better use of the talent, professional expertise, international experience and investment of Bangladeshis living around the world. This year's slogan is "Think Bangladesh." The organizer, NRB World, expects more than a thousand non-resident Bangladeshis from many countries to attend the two-day international conference at the Sheraton in Dhaka. Alongside expatriate business leaders, investors and professionals from various fields, politicians, ministers, diplomats and international experts are also being invited. According to the organizers, the core message of "Think Bangladesh" is to encourage established Bangladeshis abroad to look afresh at the country's potential, explore investment opportunities, and connect their knowledge, experience and international networks with Bangladesh's economic and social development. NRB World is a US-based, non-profit and non-political organization. It says Bangladeshi professionals living in more than 50 countries are part of its network, and one of its main goals is to connect professionals, entrepreneurs and investors scattered across the globe into an effective international community. Although the organization was formally launched in 2020, its efforts to build an international platform began much earlier. The idea took shape in 2014, when a World Business Summit for expatriate Bangladeshis was held in Singapore. Business conferences followed in Bangladesh in 2017, in the United States in 2018, and in Dubai in 2019, 2020 and 2021. The NRB Professional Summit was later held in Dhaka to create direct contact between the country's policymakers and expatriate business people and professionals. Discussions on investment, technology and entrepreneurship Sessions at the summit will cover business, investment, trade, entrepreneurship development, technology, and the role of expatriates in Bangladesh's economy. Through roundtables, discussions and networking activities, the organizers plan to focus on creating new partnerships and investment opportunities between business people and professionals at home and abroad. The organizers say the aim is not only to encourage expatriate investors to invest in Bangladesh, but also to create a channel of communication with the government, business community, entrepreneurs and policymakers so that their investments are safe, transparent and meaningful. From "Brain Drain" to "Brain Gain" A key topic will be the prospect of turning Bangladesh's "Brain Drain" into "Brain Gain." Participants will discuss how the knowledge and experience gained by Bangladeshi doctors, engineers, technologists, scientists, researchers and other professionals working abroad can be put to use for national development. NRB World's plans include using experienced expatriate professionals to help train young people in Bangladesh and develop their skills. It will also work to strengthen links between internationally established Bangladeshi experts and business people, entrepreneurs and policymakers at home. Empowering Women and Transforming Bangladesh’s Footwear Industry

Empowering Women and Transforming Bangladesh’s Footwear Industry

In northern Bangladesh, a remarkable entrepreneurial journey is reshaping lives and redefining possibilities. Hasanuzzaman Hassan, a U.S.-based entrepreneur with deep roots in his homeland, is transforming the socio-economic landscape of Rangpur through the establishment of BLING Shoes—a state-of-the-art, export-oriented sports footwear manufacturing company. His story represents not only a milestone in Bangladesh’s industrial growth but also a powerful example of how business, when guided by social responsibility and vision, can become a catalyst for lasting change. The foundation of BLING Shoes is also closely connected to a family vision. The company was originally founded by Hassan’s elder brother, Mohammad Selim, whose entrepreneurial foresight laid the groundwork for what the organization has become today. Although he passed away in January 2023, his legacy continues to guide the company’s mission and long-term vision. His dream of creating an enterprise that would uplift communities while competing globally remains deeply embedded in the company’s identity. Hasanuzzaman Hassan’s story is a powerful reminder that business success doesn’t have to be solely about profit. By focusing on people, especially women, he has created a thriving business that uplifts an entire region, proving that with the right mindset, businesses can both succeed and make a lasting, positive impact. The decision to establish BLING Shoes was driven by more than business ambition. It stemmed from a shared family commitment to development, a deep connection to Rangpur, and a determination to create sustainable change in a region long affected by seasonal food insecurity and limited economic opportunity. The Monga-affected areas of Rangpur have historically struggled with poverty and employment scarcity, particularly for women. Recognizing this challenge, the founders envisioned more than a profitable enterprise they sought to build a platform for empowerment. Their vision was clear: create a globally competitive factory that would generate revenue while providing stable, dignified employment for local communities, especially women who had long remained on the margins of the workforce. In 2018, that vision materialized with the launch of BLING Shoes in Rangpur. From its inception, the factory focused on manufacturing high-quality synthetic sports footwear for international markets. Today, it produces approximately 3.5 million pairs of shoes annually and generates over $40 million in revenue each year. What distinguishes BLING Shoes is not merely its scale, but its purpose. The company employs more than 2,000 workers approximately 85% of whom are women. This deliberate focus on women’s employment reflects a deeper mission: fostering economic independence, confidence, and long-term stability within families and communities. The factory manufactures sports, athletic, and running shoes that are exported to markets including India, Poland, Germany, Italy, Canada, France and USA. Despite intense global competition, BLING Shoes has earned a reputation for quality, innovation, and ethical business practices. The factory provides comprehensive support systems for employees, including on-site medical facilities, dormitories, dining areas, and designated prayer spaces for men and women. These investments ensure that workers have access to safe, respectful, and supportive working conditions.Launching a modern manufacturing facility in a region with limited industrial infrastructure posed considerable challenges. Establishing supply chains, building facilities, training…

The company’s mission is to support large enterprises that form the foundation of Bangladesh’s modern economy. These businesses often require structured governance, strategic oversight, and operational depth to scale sustainably. B100 aims to address this need by combining financial investment with institutional support mechanisms designed to strengthen management practices and long-term competitiveness.
